Augmented reality has challenged retailers and producers to provide customers with an interactive shopping experience. LEGO was one such company that managed to create such an application. They created an augmented reality application, so that when the customer places the product in front of this machine, they can see the packaging of the desired model and also view a virtual 3D view of what it would look like when finished. This application is created using 2nd generation Intel Core i7 processors that power the Digital Box kiosks, which in turn produce vivid 3D details of the products. These LEGO Digital Box kiosks are available in all LEGO stores as well as other major toy stores (Metaio GmbH, 2010). Augmented reality has also been used in the field of mobile advertising. Aurasma is one such app. This was launched in 2011. This application used image recognition. Here, the content is hovered over the newspaper or magazine, which contains 2D content or videos (Cellan-Jones, 2011).Ramblib et al. stated in their article that “a static reading experience can be converted into a dynamic, fun and engaging reading experience for children, with the help of augmented reality. This is done through the integration of augmented reality into a physical book.” (Ramblib et al., 2012). In this article, a physical storybook is made much more interactive for children, through the application of augmented reality. These are the pages of the book with graphic content, animations and audios. Tomi and Ramblib Awang Rambili describe in their article the development of an educational storybook for children that is interactive and based on augmented reality. They took the story of the "thirsty crow... middle of paper..." that are proposed and thanks to the advancements, it is possible to extend the scope of augmented reality to a much wider area. Optical Character Recognition (OCR)According to one particular source (Jim 2012, p 434), the University of Illinois is planning to develop an application that would help its students use their cell phones, scan any subject and find more resources for this. topic in the library, using this same application itself. The main purpose of this app would allow students to scan the page or contents of the book, and the app would in turn provide them with a list of resources that they could refer to. This application, using OCR, compares and checks with the database, sees if there is a match with the searched resource and provides the user with the relevant information about the mobile phone.
