Since engineering has so many applications and requires different functions, it takes constant effort to understand what engineering is. Engineers must understand how different machines work. Whether it's reverse engineering or the technical design process, the more a world-class engineer understands how machines work, the better he or she will be. As of now, I have little to no knowledge about what engineering is. For me to understand the essence of engineering, I need to know how to solve problems, have practical experience and do engineering research. I can improve this by actively reading the engineering reports on www.ihs.com so I know what engineering projects are in progress. Additionally, as I need hands-on experience, I can volunteer for research projects and actively look for opportunities where I can improve my engineering.
