    The deep-sea anglerfish is one of approximately 200 species of anglerfish currently living in the deep oceans today (Animals Time). The definition of the word “anglerfish” refers to a fish having a large mouth with a long filament to attract its prey. A synonym for the word anglerfish is goosefish (Dictionary). The scientific name is Melanocetus johnsoni (Seasky). The deep-sea anglerfish belongs to the class Lophiiformes (Animals Time). The deep-sea anglerfish also has a nickname known as the common black devil due to its appearance. Due to its dark skin color, frightening appearance, and fierce, sharp teeth, it has been considered a mysterious sea creature (Seasky). The deep-sea anglerfish has very small eyes (Seasky). The color of anglerfish can be deep black, a dark shade of gray, or dark brown (Buzzle). The skin of the anglerfish is very fragile and sensitive.
