  • Essay / Elizabethan era of musical culture - 783

Music was played very often as a normal routine. People considered it essential to know how to play an instrument, sing, or be involved in music in some way during this time. Instruments in the 1600s were capable of producing any type of music; what was amazing was that no matter how many instruments you used, the sound would always be pure and identical. Another unique thing about the music and culture of the 1600s is that it was also healthy for the body. In Elizabethan times, people would gather together to dance and dance for hours. Their endurance must have been incredible. Music was used to entertain most people. Before music became an important role in people's lives during the Elizabethan era, theater played a very important role during that time. It was unusual for women to participate or be part of theater at this time. Due to the fact that women were not allowed to act in any of the plays or dramas, younger boys who were still young played the roles of women. The young men's voices were still high-pitched and the bodies were not mature, so the roles of women were perfect for them. William Shakespeare played a great role in theater during the Elizabethan era and his work is still popular to this day. Most of the plays we often hear about during the 1600s were largely his. One of his most famous plays that still catches the reader's attention is Romeo and Juliet. Another thing about the Elizabethan era was the way they pronounced their words, what they did was use a four beat rhythm and make their voices heard high and low. Throughout London, theater was very popular. In the 1600s, during the Elizabethan era, instruments also played an important role in their time. As once before I told you that any instrument can play a... middle of paper...... received the highest regards of respect from the surrounding European countries and the entire Western civilization. There was a dance called the court dance. I mentioned that in dancing you need a partner, as I once said before you have the chance to meet your partner at some point in the dance. All social levels could communicate through dance, but it was also said that the dance of the upper classes and that of the lower classes were very different. The upper classes enjoyed new and formal dances more, rather than the lower classes dancing to all types of music, but not too formal, more of a loud party. With all these different types of musical instruments and dances, it was a fact that almost everyone loved this period. I hope most of my information helped you and other readers with my project on the Elizabethan era during the 1500s and 1600s. Thank you I hope you enjoyed my project.
