  • Essay / Examining power dynamics and leadership via Gold Course...

The team I was a part of was a player services team located at a private golf club in northern Arizona. Player service can be described as all exterior operations on a golf course, such as driving range management, which included setting up furniture and locating hitting points, cleaning the putting practice and chipping the greens from the golf balls, raking the sand in the bunkers, breaking down the range and cleaning all the golf balls from the grass for morning mowing. Operate the bag drop area, including parking lot, which helped expedite the process of loading member clubs onto golf carts, placing golf bags on the driving range and recording golf bags players in time for their tee times. Operate the staging area where we would help members finish their round by cleaning their clubs and removing trash from the golf cart. Being a float (supplier) for your staff was the most important position because you were the connection between the stations and you supplied all the stations. Each team had a team captain who would be in charge of the player service staff during team time. The goal of this team is to create a memorable and easy class experience by helping the member and their guests with anything they may need. This could include getting them a golf cart or helping them line up at the stand. Daily goals were emphasized on all aspects of communication. Each person was able to not only perform their own work, but also help others in different positions. For the team to perform at its highest level, each member must work hard and make very few mistakes. Everyone involved understands that we are a team working towards the same goal every day and knew what each member was...... middle of paper ......m, dynamics and social class. The team needs to change the way it lets the leader affect day-to-day operations and stand up to things we disagreed with. By doing this, we will have a better hierarchy of power and the whole team will be on the same page. The entire course needs this to happen to show gaps in structure and problems in their empowerment style. Bibliography Franz, Timothy M.
