One leadership role that an effective president should possess is that of commander in chief. It is very important that an effective president be honest and determined. Having previous positions in place increases efficiency. Richard Nixon was an example of an effective president. Richard Nixon attended Fullerton Union High School. He loved debates and public speaking. Nixon then went to Whittier High School and ran for student body president and debate. After Richard Nixon finished high school, he went to Whittier College. At Whittier College he continued his interest in American government. He received a scholarship to attend law school at Duke University. At Duke University, he served as president of the Student Bar Association and as a member of the Law Review. Nixon moved to Washington, D.C., where he joined the Office of Price Administration. Richard Nixon also attended the Navy. He ran for Congress in 1946 and successfully won against his opponent. In 1950, he ran for senator and defeated his competitors. the Republican presidential nominee in 1952 chose Nixon as his running mate at the Republican convention in Chicago. These events provided Richard Nixon with prior experience and knowledge before taking office. Setting goals is a key characteristic of being an effective president. Being able to set goals is not only beneficial for you in the office, but also lets people know the goals you want to achieve. He helped connect the United States and make peace with many foreign countries. Nixon signed many laws that helped the environment or equality. For example, he initiated the Emergency School Act to help end school segregation, created the Family Assistance Plan, which helped poor families, single-parent families, and families with dependent children, and Nixon signed a peace treaty, and many more. Richard Nixon contributed massively to foreign policy. Nixon opened trade with China, which benefited our relations with China and our trade. We have also established relations with Russia. Without Nixon's presidency, our foreign policy would not have been as successful as it was after his term ended. “If you don't take any risks, you won't suffer any defeat.
