  • Essay / Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) designation as my greatest accomplishment

There comes a time in everyone's life when they will need help, and in some cases, a little extra help . Some people need help getting around after injuries or simply as they get older. Most likely, they will be sent to a treatment center for treatment or to prolong the healing process. The staff who will help residents with their daily tasks are CNAs. CNAs help move, feed and care for residents while they live at home. When I finally became a CNA, it was one of the biggest accomplishments I have achieved thus far. Say no to plagiarism. The time spent in classes, clinics, and tests was exhausting. My CNA classes were half online and half in person. Often, online classes started before school, so I had to get up earlier to be there before college classes started. I also worked the day before and got up late, that being said, I would be tired of not sleeping and having to get up early. It took a lot of determination and dedication, which ultimately worked. My clinicals were during my 8 hour class and were located about 40 minutes away, this required determination as I would have to catch up on all the work on my own time. In addition to being determined to become a CNA, it was difficult to gain respect at 17 because many CNAs were not my age. Earning the CNA title was not a simple task. Being a CNA is about earning respect, someone can't just be thrown into a care center and expect everyone to trust or rely on them. When a person gets their first job in a care center, they will need at least one to two weeks of orientation. During these weeks, you will learn where you fit in the hierarchy and how to improve with advice from mentors. This can be very intimidating and stressful, as there is a lot to learn about all the residents and one wrong move could cost a life. Respect is an important aspect in the medical field because without it no one would follow orders, therefore nothing would be accomplished in an acceptable time frame. Just as important as respect, becoming a CNA allowed me to take the next step in the medical field. Currently, the medical field needs many more people. With that in mind, I'm about to dive deeper into healthcare since I'm already a CNA. The career I want to pursue in the future is nursing, specifically neonatal nursing. I'm so grateful to be able to start now in nursing and then move into something more intense in the future. Neonatal nurses care for premature babies who are fragile after birth. Being a CNA right now is helping me become a nurse because I know how important it is to be efficient and thorough in everything I do. Being a CNA requires someone with a natural need for self-care.
