    It is a periodic and reversible loss of consciousness, in which different levels of brain activity occur. Despite the multiple stages and cycles experienced during a night's sleep, the average recommended sleep duration is seven to eight hours. During this laboratory, we tested the effects of sleep duration on memory. By conducting three sleep trials, we were able to determine the validity of our hypothesis. Our research results failed to reject our hypothesis that sleeping eight hours would give the best memory results compared to the other two.
