Essay / The Imaginative Aspect of the Bicycle Wheel by Marcel Duchamp
Art has always been important in many societies throughout history. The meaning of art has changed a lot over time. And the meaning of art is often debated and has no single definition. Art is a highly subjective thing and everyone has their own interpretation of what art means to them. Some people argue that anything can be considered art, while others argue that it must follow a certain set of rules to be considered art. Say no to plagiarism. This is true because new artists continue to push the boundaries of contemporary art. This was particularly evident to me during my visit to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). This museum displays many modern works of art. There's a lot of art I've seen there and I don't understand why it's considered art. For a work of art to be considered art, it must be a creative expression of something unique and it also requires skills to create. This should not be something that can be easily reproduced by anyone. An example of this is the bicycle wheel created by Marcel Duchamp in 1951. Duchamp combined two common objects to create this work of art. He built it by mounting a bicycle wheel on a kitchen stool. It's something I don't consider a work of art because it's nothing special. It's just an ordinary bicycle wheel and an ordinary kitchen stool. I don't see any creativity in it and this work doesn't look aesthetic. To me, it seems like Duchamp chose two objects at random, put them together, and called it a work of art. It also doesn't constitute art to me because it seems like it requires no skill to create. Anyone can put these two objects together and reproduce them easily. On the other hand, I could see how bicycle wheeling could be considered art for different people. If it's such a popular work that belongs in a museum and is on display at MoMa, it must be considered art by a large group of people. These are the kind of people who probably argue that anything and everything can be called art. The bicycle wheel can be considered art because it is unique and the artist is doing something totally different from what is normally expected in art. The two objects together can have a deeper meaning and have a story behind them. And because it is so unique, museum visitors are often amazed and interested in this piece. It forces people to really think about it and have their own interpretation of this piece. Keep in mind: this is just a sample. Get a personalized paper now from our expert writers.
