World ReligionsReligion is an integral part of human life. Every region of the world has some sort of religion or belief system. Religion is defined as “a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices” (“Religion” Def.2). With so many religions today, religion is very varied, usually with divisions within each. Despite the large number of religions, I will only cover three religions: Christianity, Islam and Buddhism. Christians are those who believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who came down from heaven to earth to save humanity from evil. his sins. The reason Jesus died for the human race dates back to the beginning of time, in the Garden of Eden (Bowker 136). After God created the universe and everything in it, he saw that everything he had created was good (New American Standard Bible, Genesis 1-2). After this, the serpent, which was determined to be Lucifer, tempted Eve to eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, which was the only tree that God had told them not to eat from. For this reason, God cursed humanity and the earth, causing them hardship and suffering (Genesis 3). The rest of the Old Testament speaks of God leading his people in the path of the coming Savior, who was Jesus Christ. Jesus was born to Mary, who willingly obeyed God's instructions that she should give birth to Jesus as a virgin, despite her confusion about how this would happen (Luke 1:26-38). Soon after, she conceived and eventually gave birth to the foretold Messiah, Jesus Christ.
