Essay / Genetic Engineering and Cloning Essay - 621
In recent years, scientists have used cloning and genetic engineering. Cloning is the action of copying the DNA of an organism (for example human) and replicating it. This will give you exact twins. Genetic engineering is the process of manually adding new DNA to an organism. This involves adding genes that were not originally present in the organism. These two have some similarities but aren't that much alike. Most people make a big deal about both things saying it's not good while others think it's a technological advancement and very useful. I don't like these ideas and I think they can lead to big problems in our lives. Cloning and genetic engineering are very different, but share some similarities. When a scientist clones an organism, they are working with the organism's DNA present in the cells. The cell is replicated with the DNA inside the cell. This allows two almost identical organisms to form. Genetic engineering also deals with DNA. When you add a new trait to something, you have to add it to the DNA where the genes are located. Cloning and genetic engineering both work with DNA. Cloning and genetic engineering...
