What were once formal complaints have now become a business challenge where a business can lose all customers and interest due to online protests. It's obvious that fast food franchises are most affected by this type of social pressure, as many of their menu options are considered unhealthy. From the fat content to the high sugar levels in their soft drinks, many of these franchises are seeing notable successes. However, due to their global presence and popularity, franchises such as McDonald's and KFC remain in business regardless of the social pressures placed on them.
