  • Essay / Temperate Forest Biome - 959

The forest is a quiet, peaceful, and relaxing place; what makes a forest do these things? Temperate forests are made up of many living and non-living things. By combining these factors, the temperate forest biome is created. Temperate forests are not just a boring thing that never moves, they are a thriving landscape, conducive to extensive life that rejuvenates the planet every day. The forest biome is known all over the world. Our own backyards are part of this biome. Temperate forests are located on all continents except Antarctica and Africa. The biome is found in the eastern part of the United States as well as much of Europe, East Asia, and eastern Australia (see Figure 1). The Appalachian mountain region of the United States is an example of a temperate forest biome. A large part of the temperate forest biome is located on the east coast of China and extends north towards Korea in which it changes into a different biome, then another section extends from the part southern Siberia and continues into the Korean Peninsula (see figure 1). Europe is largely covered in forests. Location makes climate specific. (Figure 1) Location of “Temperate Forests” (Marietta) The climate of the temperate forest biome consists of an average temperature of ten degrees Celsius and temperatures ranging from minus thirty degrees Celsius to plus thirty degrees Celsius. degrees Celsius. The biome has hot summers and cold winters. Temperate forests are located where they receive all four seasons. They average seven hundred and fifty to one thousand five hundred millimeters of precipitation per year (see Figure 2). For example, the Appalachian region of the United States regularly benefits from these conditions. The...... middle of paper .......
