  • Essay / Similarities Between Christianity and Judaism - 1403

One of the many decisions to make in life is what religion, if any, they will practice. Christianity, the belief in God and Jesus as his son, or Judaism, which follows the guidance of the Torah, are some of the major religions a person can choose. This decision can be one of the most important decisions of a person's life, and each religion has similarities and differences, as well as advantages and disadvantages. Two of the major religions, Judaism and Christianity, are similar in their inspiration from sacred texts, but are different in their identity as Jesus and in their practice of worship. Although Christianity and Judaism are very different religions, they are similar in their inspiration from sacred texts. texts. Even though Christianity has the Bible and Judaism has the Torah, the question remains how these books were written and by whom. In both the Bible and the Torah, people's personalities are always present and differ between people, indicating that these are real experiences. The Bible and Torah were written primarily based on human experiences, of human origin only, with some excerpts from God or Jesus himself. For example, in the Bible: “I am a free man. I am an apostle. I have seen Jesus our Lord” (Corinthians 9:1). This passage was written by Paul, an apostle of Jesus, in the first person, indicating that it was a real experience, and also using the "I". Both religions are equally deeply inspired by God, affirming that "Scripture is not only the word of man, but also, and also the word of God, spoken by the lips of man or written with the pen of man” (JI Packer, The Origin of the Bibles, 1992, p. 31). Because God heavily influenced both religions, the books are both very similar, but some things have been lost through translation, and some accounts that the Jews...... middle of paper ..... . tears according to the traditional Hebrew text.
