    Educators debate extending high school to five years amid growing demands from employers and colleges for students to participate in activities extracurricular and community service in addition to having high grades. Some educators support extending high school to five years because they believe students need more time to achieve everything expected of them. Other educators do not support extending high school to five years because they believe students would lose interest in school and attendance would decline by fifth grade. In my opinion, secondary education should not be extended to five years. I believe that school should not be extended to five years, as students would certainly lose interest. High school is also the student's responsibility and if a student fails it is their own mistake and should not be given an extra year just to have an extra chance at getting better grades to get into college . My final reason is that there will be more school dropouts by fifth grade due to loss of interest. High school shouldn't be increased by an extra year just for the sake of it....
