  • Essay / The Hero - 1180

Many non-Western literary texts of the 20th century have a hero that everyone admires. Most stories have typical heroes, so to speak, who demonstrate extreme bravery and courage and are often willing to sacrifice their lives for the sake of someone other than themselves. A typical hero is never selfish and never abandons his principles and beliefs. He is always ready to stand up for what he believes is right, even if he is alone. However, there are many characters in these stories who do not receive as much credit or attention from the audience. They are “atypical” heroes who show their heroism in different ways. There are many actions that may not be as courageous but also deserve respect from readers. The novel “The Kite Runner” written by Khaled Hosseini is no exception and it has its own heroes who show their heroic nature through their actions. However, some characters show it straight away, like Hassan, who demonstrates sincere and unfeigned love and respect for his friend Amir despite the fact that he does not treat him the same way. Hassan deserves to be called a true hero in this story considering everything he had to go through and the fact that he managed to remain himself and forgive a betrayal. Amir, on the other hand, is not a typical hero and starts out as a weak and unsympathetic character. He cannot be the person his father, a very powerful and respectful man, wants him to be. For example, he shows his love for literature even after hearing Baba's criticism that it is not what men should do. Amir chooses not to fight back and he is never willing to compromise his own beliefs. He does not follow/believe the very patriotic and harsh norms of the Muslim world of Afghans...... middle of paper ......tinctive but productive and beneficial to society. His success in this role is evidenced by his status as a general indicating his considerable influence. Being a revolutionary means believing in yourself and believing that you can make a difference, and we can see Gertrudis' strong belief in a better future that they are capable of achieving. It also means making great sacrifices and risking her life on the battlefield, which she does once again, proving her strength of spirit. Gertrudis represents all the influential women of the Mexican Revolution who were appreciated and respected by the men of the time. She symbolizes the model of future thinkers or writers who sought to transmit their wise thoughts and bitter experiences to other generations. Works Cited - Hosseini, Khaled. The kite runner.
