Essay / Why Virginia is a Better Place to Live - 1050
My parents asked me to choose which state of Missouri or Virginia to move to because they received a job offer in the same business and that they were going to receive the same amount of income in both states. After my research, I found the state that I thought would be the best fit for my family and myself. If I had to choose between Missouri or Virginia, I would choose Virginia for many reasons. Virginia has better education, better jobs, and a better economy. Virginia also offers better activities, attractions, and culture. Finally, Virginia is experiencing more historical events that have a daily impact on how our nation started. This is why, in my opinion, Virginia is an environmentally better place to live. First, Virginia has better education, jobs, and an economy well geared toward the workforce I am leaning toward in the years to come. Virginia is ranked 26th overall for academic achievement in education (alec). Jobs that boost the economy include: small kitchen appliances, computer software, and high-tech jobs in biosciences and communications. Virginia is a place where technology is high and physical labor is now low due to technological change (Tougas 20). Other jobs that impact their economy include: education, health services, finance, insurance, real estate, recreation, and government jobs (thomasjeffersoninist). Virginia's crime rate is also lower than Missouri's. There were 29,511 burglary reports, 138,398 theft reports, 9,076 motor vehicle theft reports, 314 murder reports, 4,706 theft reports, and 9,092 assault reports (neighborhood screening). Their economy was driven by tobacco, it is now driven by livestock and livestock products (info please). Their economy is also driven by the foreign exchange board, January 1, 2013.
