In an experiment by Villarseñor, Driscoll, Escobar, Gibbons and Lindenmayer, (2014), the effects of urbanization on mammal diversity. They hypnotized that an increase in urbanization had caused a decline of vertebrates in urban landscapes. An area on the NSW south coast was surveyed, with 81.4% of the area being covered by landscape, 13.4% being an urban area and 5% being used for industrial buildings. After studying how mammals that live in an area close to a populated city and compared to those that lived further away, it was concluded that the abundance of mammals decreased with distance from urban boundaries, the more dense the area in subdivision, the lower the biodiversity. in the region, and finally that over time there will be a gradual change in the abundance of all species living in the forest near the most urbanized areas. Studying other species in the region could have provided a better understanding of how different species respond to urbanization. Additionally, forests located near urbanizations of different sizes and the effects of each size on forest habitation.
