Essay / Afghanistan: the useless war? - 1327
Soldiers are often considered robots, meaning they don't really care about the battle they're fighting. This is not true, especially in the case of the war on terrorism. If you asked a soldier what he thought about the war in Afghanistan, he would immediately tell you that it is a necessary war to protect the United States from terrorists. Unfortunately, Americans don't think the same way as soldiers or their families. Most Americans believe the war is a waste of American time, money, and resources. This thought process is not only wrong, but completely unfair to serving troops. The Afghan war cannot be won by fighting or blood loss, but it can and will be won by the American occupation of Afghanistan. Jihad is often considered a holy war, but Jihad in Afghanistan is the terrorist group responsible for the attacks. this continues to happen in Afghanistan. The war in Afghanistan relies on a defined military strategy that is followed by the troops. This proves that the idea that no one is in charge of the army is false. The military has a defined goal for Afghanistan. The aim of the war is to end the violence and the spread of Jihad in Afghanistan (Bacevich). The spread of jihadism would pose a direct problem for American citizens. Many Americans don't see this as a problem, when in fact; this could pose a serious threat to American security. If jihad were to continue to expand, there could be a rise in jihad in the United States. This is why it is necessary to prevent the spread of jihadism. The military strategy in Afghanistan was drawn up for Obama by General Stanley McChrystal. It was made clear that if the plan was denied, it would almost be like a declaration...... middle of paper ...... October 11, 2009. The Boston Globe. November 11, 2011.
