Essay / Analysis Of Carmen By Georges Bizet - 706
Unbeknownst to her, she has already moved to Escamillo. He begs and begs her. Carmen rejected him. Overwhelmed by his emotion, he stabs her. Additionally, he sings her name out loud with sadness. Likewise, Carmen resembles Nedda in I Pagliacci. Both operas are about love and passion that ended tragically. First, Nedda is a woman who was in an abusive relationship with her alcoholic husband who loves her passionately. Nedda was in a relationship out of fear because her husband told her that if she ever tries to cheat on him. He's going to kill her. Nedda and Carmen have a sort of way of seduction, and this seduction attracts unwanted and sought-after attention. Second, Nedda cheated on her husband and got caught, but tries to hide the identity of the man she cheated with. Her husband ends up killing her and then killing his accomplice by stabbing them both. The difference is that Nedda is an adulterer and Carmen is an abuser. The reason why such an act committed puts them in a difficult situation. When it comes to Nedda, the audience sympathizes with her more than at one point. Not to mention it's hard to decide if she's a hero or bad.
