Essay / My philosophy on education - Physical education is an important part...
The major point that is close to my heart and my philosophy of education is centered on children living a healthy lifestyle. When I talk about a healthy lifestyle, I am mainly referring to schools taking steps to provide children with physical education. I believe that schools should offer physical education because it provides the opportunity to excel, it allows students to have connections with their peers and it primarily provides the exercise that children cannot do today due to the disappearance and elimination of physical education programs. . The reason I am passionate about bringing back or maintaining physical education in schools is due to my previous knowledge and experience in physical education throughout my school years. Through school, I saw the effects of extracurricular activities and physical education that could impact my life and the lives of others. Physical education gave me the opportunity to excel. Throughout my elementary, middle, and even high school years, I had average grades throughout. I tried hard in school and did well, but school wasn't easy and I had some struggles along the way. However, physical education gave me the opportunity to excel in other areas outside of the classroom. I believe that finding a talent as a child can increase a student's self-esteem and self-efficacy. The next point I would like to make would be that children are not getting enough exercise that they need. We all know the importance of daily exercise; however, over the past decade, more children are obese. I believe this is partly due to cuts to physical education in schools. Finally, I will talk about the social importance of physical education on children. Physical education gave me the opportunity to make friends and... middle of paper ... these concepts need to be addressed. My educational philosophy provides children with the qualities necessary to succeed and lead healthy lives. These qualities discussed and which I believe are important give students the opportunity to excel, they allow them to learn necessary social skills and provide them with the exercise that children need on a daily basis through physical education. This is why it is important to keep physical education intact in school systems, for the benefit of students.ReferencesNoddings, Nel. (1992).
