    Fair trade is a commercial partnership that aims for greater fairness in international trade by maximizing the benefits of the stakeholders involved (“WFTO”). Almost all (93%) of Starbucks Coffee Company's coffee was ethically sourced through Coffee and Farmer Equity (CAFE) practices, which include the Fair Trade system (“Grown Responsibly”). As of January 2013, more than $1.2 billion in profits from the sale of Kit Kats supported more than 7,000 fair trade cocoa farmers through the Nestlé Cocoa Plan (“Kit Kat”). Fair trade products are prevalent not only in Hong Kong, but also around the world, such as America, Canada, England and Australia. What differentiates fair trade products from others is their significant impact on their producers and consumers. For producers, fair trade improves their lives and helps them develop their communities. As for consumers, fair trade reassures them with high quality products and offers them a way to contribute to environmental protection. Fair trade succeeds in achieving equity by maximizing the benefits of fair trade producers and consumers, respectively from the perspectives of quality of life, community development, product quality and environmental protection. The lives of producers under the fair trade system have been improved through increased income. According to Hans Peter Egler, head of trade promotion at the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SESO), producers whose products are labeled fair trade benefit on average from a 30 percent increase in income compared to those who do. do not have a label (SECO).
