Essay / Scientific Naturalism vs. Christianity - 1768
Scientific naturalism and Christianity are probably the two most contradictory worldviews in our culture today. They are also the two most difficult to understand one by the other. There is very little in common between these two worldviews. These are a large number of ideas and beliefs shared by the followers of each of them and which are different. For these two worldviews to successfully coexist in society, it is important to understand, accept and learn from each. In Element of a Christian Worldview by Michael D. Palmer, it is written that “no worldview can survive separately.” of a social context that connects several generations” (pp. 58). Palmer also states that "the social element is essential to the long-term success of any worldview" (p. 58). Palmer wrote this in his description of how the social element is a key part of a worldview. Looking at these statements from a different perspective, we can say that they apply to the subject of contradictory worldviews, such as the Christian worldview and the worldview of scientific naturalism. There is no possibility that a society could exist without a social element directing it. . People meet every day. Conversations are taking place, viewpoints are being discussed and interactions will take place. But everyone is different. Every person has a different thought process and every person has different beliefs. In the social context, although one may find other people who share their worldview, in many cases one will often find people who do not share it. Is it possible for humans to coexist when they have conflicting worldviews and beliefs? Quite simply, yes. In order to begin the process of learning how these two worldviews can coexist, one must understand exactly what a job is...... middle of paper ...... nature of God, the world, and human beings, the Bible is a source from which a reasonably complete worldview can be constructed. Many stories or teachings in Scripture speak directly to the different elements of a worldview” (Palmer, pp 93). Christians answer the question of what happens to us after this life ends with their beliefs in heaven and hell. If a true believer has accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and has lived his life according to the Bible and the laws of God, he will go to heaven after his earthly body dies. If a person lives a life of sin and never seeks redemption, living his life against God and His kingdom, he will burn in the fire and brimstone of hell. Scientific naturalism has a different perspective on most aspects that a Christian worldview considers to be the same. truth and valuable for the formation of the very core of their beliefs.
