Naturalism is a literary school born towards the end of the 19th century. The main goal of naturalism is to correct the sometimes inaccurate use of situational ethics as well as the emphasis on mundane or typical events of realism. Katherine Anne Porter's "The Jilting of Granny Weatherall" is an example of naturalism with its use of truth governed by natural laws, its simple narrative structure, and Granny's epiphany that death has finally overtaken her. This story unfolds -with a simple narrative structure. The entire story is told from Granny Weatherall's point of view, what happens to her as she lies in bed and the memories of her life. Granny's story tells us the story of her life and the difficulties she faced after losing her husband at a very young age, having to raise the children alone, taking care of the house, finances, neighbors and " sick negroes. as being stood at the altar by George. By using this approach it helps the reader understand what Granny Weatherall's life is like and how she views her life....
