The Glass Menagerie is one of Tennessee Williams' most famous plays. A sort of autobiographical piece that closely resembles Williams' life before fame. The play takes place in the 1930s, before World War II, in an apartment in St. Louis. Where the three main characters reside and clash on a daily basis. Moreover, they also live in their world of illusion. Illusion and reality are practically the subject around which the play revolves. The characters Tom, his sister Laura and his mother Amanda are attached in one way or another to an imaginary world. Tom has become the head of the family since their father abandoned them. He is an aspiring poet who works in a shoe warehouse. He is unhappy with his life and the codependency of his mother and sister. Tom's mother is also unhappy with his gift. Being abandoned by her husband was too much insolence for her. She constantly fantasizes about her past and her youth.
