The book Summary of The Chronicles of a Death Foretold begins with the narrator telling the reader Santiago Narsar who is the main character of the story. Santiago lived with his mother, Placida Linero; their cook, Victoria Guzman; and her daughter, Divina Flor. Santiago's father died three years earlier. The house was therefore left to Santiago to take care of and keep in good hands. One morning, Santiago was on his way to meet the bishop who was arriving at the monastery by boat to bless the marriage of Angela Vicario and Bayardo San Roman. But what Bayardo doesn't know is that his future wife is not a virgin and she has no intention of telling him that. After a while she feels guilty and finally tells him and he leaves her and her mother isn't happy about it either once she finds out as well. Then once her twin brothers find out that their sister Angela is not a virgin, they ask her who took her from her and she doesn't tell them at first who did but eventually relents once they get her. threaten so she tells them that Santiago Narsar took her. virginity so they decided to murder her.
