Essay / Persuasive Essay on Domestic Violence - 2162
No Way Out Throughout our state, our country, and our world, we rarely talk about a problem that destroys the lives of innocent people every day. One in four women in the United States are victims of domestic violence (safehorizon.org). In many areas, there are programs that incorporate a combination of resources to keep victims safe while ensuring they have a way to get out and stay out of abusive relationships. Here in Hays, many incidents of domestic violence are never fully resolved, causing the victim to flee and find their abuser after discovering they have nowhere to turn. Women and children find themselves trapped. Not because they choose to be, but because they are out of options. Resources intended to help them are incomplete, forcing them back into abusive relationships. I have friends and family who are also victims, and a few are currently stuck in it. Women who experience severe violence are afraid, feel alone and often lack social skills. After being hammered for so long that they are worthless, they finally believe it. Many abused women believe they don't deserve better. Abusers cut off their victims from the world and this is how they manage to manipulate them to this extent. They cause problems for the families and friends of their victims, or prohibit them from staying there altogether..
