  • Essay / Social Ethics - 1006

Social responsibility began centuries ago when people realized that living in community and that is why their decisions affect others. We consider that a pluralistic society is one that accepts, recognizes and tolerates the existence of different positions or thoughts and that is why we must always seek common social laws governing society in order to find a balance that benefits everyone its members. However, throughout history we can find eras where the common good prevailed and where instead of these first particular interests of a few, one of these eras is called the industrial revolution in which the first arise companies that demonstrate the lack of social responsibility towards the community where agricultural workers were the objects of women and children were forced to work long and exhausting hours in exchange for very low wages, experienced exploitation of the environment and natural resources and we cannot leave behind the lack of concern for the quality of the products we provide to society. All that mattered was increasing profits. There were factories for goods and services, machines for making money at the expense of others. We may think that this era of industrial revolution and the lack of corporate social responsibility have been overcome, but the reality we live in is another, many companies want to take advantage of the lack of restrictions and laws that some countries have , poor or developing countries, and take advantage of these circumstances to exploit their natural resources, dirty the environment and save money by hiring labor at very low prices, all with the objective of increasing their profits at all costs. This is when we wonder if we have really overcome the lack of ethics that lived in the middle of paper...... the rules imposed must be extended globally so that companies do not cannot avoid relocating to countries with lower standards that can be exploited more easily. That is, businesses should be subject to global standards that protect the well-being of society as a whole. What society asks of businesses is to eliminate negative impacts, but this can be very costly to remove and can be a great disadvantage to businesses as they would have to spend a lot of money, resources and energy to solve the problems that caused the company. That's why the job of business leaders is to anticipate the impact their business can have on a community and find ways to minimize or gain an advantage with a business opportunity. or if you cannot exploit this situation to create a rule or regulation that can balance both business and society, and neither is negatively affected..
