Since 1973, after Roe v. Wade legalized abortion nationwide, there were approximately 56,000,000 abortions. This represents approximately 1.2 million abortions per year (NRLC). This has become a sad trend for pro-life groups. Unfortunately, if abortion were not legalized, women would go to great lengths to obtain an illegal abortion, which could put their health at risk. This includes getting infections from unsanitary equipment, like the infamous wire hanger, never being fertile again, or even dying. The question remains unstable: does the fetus tolerate pain during an abortion? My answer is yes, they do. I say this taking into account all the scientific research that I have found underlying the research and theses of doctors. Through my research, I hope to explain how these unborn babies cope with pain and the significant amount of pain that the mother also possesses, mentally and physically. I would like to speak to those who have or are in the process of obtaining training, pregnant women seeking abortion, and anyone interested in the topic. I hope this gives women seeking an abortion the information they need before proceeding with the procedure. This will benefit me because I want to understand the abortion procedure and what the fetus experiences, if anything. As for my readers, perhaps this will give them more information that they already have on the subject. I want them to take the information I present and pass it on to other people interested in this topic. Abortion has been a big controversy for many years...in the middle of the newspaper......be allowed to do with their bodies and if it is in fact "killing babies" I want to know what they themselves feel. about this. My goal in my article is to find out if fetal pain is actually true, while also mentioning the psychological toll it takes on women, if any, and if they know exactly what the fetus goes through during the procedure.
