Essay / Animal Testing and Toxicology Testing - 719
In laboratories around the world, every day, animals are injured and mistreated during the testing of new products or chemicals. The lives of these animals are horrible, they are locked up all day in cold, lonely cages, only brought out to be tested. Animals still feel pain like humans, so why torture animals if there are other choices other than these cruel testing methods? Animals that are locked in cages for testing are said to also have serious mental problems. Animals who are confined are said to have terrible habits of anxiety and nervousness from being confined for such a long time. Most of the animals used in the tests were born there and their lives never amounted to anything. They use the animals as babies for the tests and so these animals grow up with the tests that are their life, until they eventually kill them. Their whole life is based on product testing. All tests prove that it is fundamental or pure research that studies how organisms behave, grow and function with different experiences. Those who oppose animal testing object that pure research has little or no practical utility. With modern technology, there are many alternatives to animal testing and could at least make testing less cruel and harmful to animals. There are many types of animal testing, for different types of tests carried out to prove different topics. Toxicology testing, also called safety testing, is performed by pharmaceutical companies testing drugs or by contract animal testing facilities. Toxicology testing is used to examine finished products such as pesticides, drugs, food additives, packaging materials and air fresheners, or their chemical ingredients. Most testing involves testing ingredients rather than the fin...... middle of paper ......animal that hasn't done anything? They should instead use prisoners who have been convicted of murder or rape. So rather than seeing if perfume irritates a rabbit's eyes, they should throw it in Charles Manson's eyes and ask him if it hurts. When she says this, it proves one final point that animal testing is cruel and we would never do this much harm to any human being, so why do it to an innocent animal? In conclusion, based on the research that has been done, animal testing is very harmful and animals should not be treated without precaution. All animals need to be loved just like humans, there are many arguments defending animal rights. Scientifically, it is not correct to treat them this way. We would never do such things to a human, so what makes it right to do it to an animal that has done nothing wrong? Animals deserve the same rights as humans.
