  • Essay / Ancient civilization: Mayans, Cro-Magnons, Paleo-Indians

In 18,000, civilizations had to worry about many more things than we do today. 18,000 people suffered from diseases without medicine, from droughts that left no crops to eat, from natural disasters that changed the world they lived in, and from invasions by others. Today we don't have to worry about much because we have a government that takes care of a lot of things, and even though we have natural disasters, they don't seem as tragic as before, such as They wiped out entire civilizations. We can't really predict when each disaster is supposed to happen, we've never really been able to. Today we use computers and the like extensively to help us do research and gain insight. It seems that ancient civilizations, like the Mayans, Cro-Magnons, Paleo-Indians, Celts, Romans and Chaco-Indians, had problems with themselves. They struggled to adapt to their new environments and climates, and they were unable to cope with natural disasters. It seems that climate change, from cold to hot and vice versa, really affected ancient civilizations and that droughts were extremely effective on their growth. About 15,000 years ago, a strip of land called Central Beringia once connected Siberia and Alaska. Due to global warming and warming of the Earth, the bridge has shrunk at its edges, causing the sea and waters to rise. Siberians who lived near the bridge began moving to North America due to the bridge's shrinkage. People believe they were colonized by animals and hunting. Indeed, as the waters rose, they had to move with them and moved to places where they knew they could easily find food. The first settlement seemed to be sporadic with a messy process, if any p...... middle of paper ......ps and less food for all of us. From ancient civilizations we should learn that the environment and climate are constantly changing. We think it's always the same, but it could easily change every day. Over time it could easily be completely different and we might no longer know where we are. America is more vulnerable due to increased population growth, urbanization, and the industrial revolution (xv). As Fagan says: “In our efforts to protect ourselves from smaller, more frequent climate stresses, we have consistently made ourselves more vulnerable to rarer but larger disasters. » Fagan means that because we have brought our cities and civilization closer together due to population growth, if a natural disaster were to occur, it would destroy far more than we think. We need to study our climate to prepare for these disasters.
