Essay / Analysis Of Sicario - 1173
For example, in Argo, a film based on real events, there is interwoven American propaganda about how the mission was so intelligent and brave. The film also wrongly criminalizes Middle Easterners by not really showing their motivations. Meanwhile, The Revenant, also based on real events, is constantly mired in supernatural imagery and flashes of a "higher" journey that can make the story feel convoluted. And while Hugh Glass's character may have been religious or supernatural, the visions feel out of place in an otherwise brutally realistic film. Both films I mentioned won Oscars and are great films in their own right. However, they have issues that make someone double down or doubt an otherwise great movie. Sicario, apparently learned from these mistakes and avoided such obstacles by taking a completely grassroots approach to a frequently discussed and dramatized problem.
