George's deficiency was Lennie. He was always looking out for and protecting Lennie, so he's not looking for trouble. Crooks' deficiencies were that he was African American and had back problems. The people on the ranch wanted nothing to do with him, so he was forced to live in a stable, away from the others. Candy's handicap was that he did not have a right hand, which made working on the ranch difficult. Finally, Curley's wife's handicap was that she wanted to receive inappropriate attention from other men besides her husband, which always caused problems between Curley and the other men on the ranch. Of course, these characters aren't the only ones in the book with flaws. However, these are just a few of the major ones listed and discussed. “They left all the weakest here,” she said finally.
