Leukemia is a type of cancer that grows uncontrolled inside the spongy parts of the bone, although this type of cancer is mainly introduced through exposure of the body to a greater amount of radiation. , caused by previous cancer of the body or by a genetic mutation (abnormal chromosomes) caused by heredity in family history. Treatment for this type of bone cancer involves destroying leukemia cells to allow healthy cells to stimulate the correct proportion of normal stem cells in the red bone marrow. Induction therapy is mainly used for stages of leukemia which consists of radiotherapy and chemotherapy in order to kill the degenerative cells inside the bone marrow, but it is important to mention that this type of treatment kills all cell types and causes secondary health problems. Consolidation therapy consists of a red bone marrow transplant. This type of treatment includes induction of marrow from a close relative to increase red blood cell production in the diagnosed person.
