Essay / End the Lie Against the New York Times - 735
The Proposition The media is everywhere, but it can be difficult to determine what an accurate picture of reality is. With all big companies, telling people the whole truth is not as important as protecting their economic interests. End The Lie leaves you with unanswered questions, while questioning the information given. However, the New York Times' take on the Russian proposal to place Syria's chemical weapons under international control is more in-depth and reliable than the alternative source End The Lie. The End The Lie article uses the media manipulation method, False Balancing because there was a lot more mocking of the situation or questioning of President Obama than giving real information to the reader. It was easy to see that the journalist was against the attack on Syria. Every mainstream and alternative article announces their opinion rather than the truth to help protect their own economic interests. The truth is a constant that stands the test of time, whereas a fabricated lie dies with time. Having multiple sources can help you better understand the information. However, an alternative source does not give you what is necessary to make the article trustworthy by not giving you more information and having anonymous sources. Between the New York Times and End The Lie, the New York Times had the most reliable and detailed information..
