Essay / The Coffee Shop - 1120
The Coffee Shop has been around since 1992. Many people come and go from The Coffee Shop on a daily basis, you may even be one of those people who stops on your way to class fast. But as you exited the building, did you notice the small crack at the base of the wall. Where an upset employee threw a tray of cups? Most likely not. This is one of many stories shared with me by The Coffee Shop employees, regular customers, and people who have never set foot in The Coffee Shop. With a place that's been around as long as Au Coffee Shop, you're bound to have some good stories to tell. One begins with an innocent-looking sophomore strolling through the Coffee Shop. Entering the cafe with bad intentions, he assessed the local talent residing in the building. He couldn't help but want to sit next to the only dark-haired woman sipping java in the corner. The attack was on, recognizing the book she was reading, he approached her with a nonchalant question. “Are you studying for the math test this week?” He knew she was, and her answer, as expected, was "yes." From here it was all down hill. Playing the innocent schoolboy, he skillfully manipulated her hesitant attitude and convinced her to study with him that evening at the cafe. He met her at Jitters as planned and the night turned into a great study session. Which he had planned, because he didn't want to appear too aggressive or desperate. As the night drew to a close, so did her guard, who asked her if she wanted something to drink. She was very receptive to his proposal. He chose a good espresso with a shot of amaretto. He could tell that after studying with her all night, she trusted her op... in the middle of a sheet of paper... pieced together stories? The answer to this question is simple: it is not. These true or false stories are memories of people who had some sort of encounter with Jitters Coffee. And what an amazing coffee it is. So you can listen to people like Evan Larkin who has never been to Jitters and says that "coffee shops are all the same, and The Coffee Shop is no different." These are people who think they are better than everyone else and have an attitude: "It's not for me, only queers go there." Or you can walk ½ mile from campus and find out for yourself Now the choice is in your hands: “I'll be there tomorrow at the same time, come see us! Regular". Interview.
