Structural work among Native Americans was used to modify the natural landscape for the benefit of man. The way American Indians designed and modified the landscape demonstrates what they believed and valued in their culture. For example, religious practices affected the way structures were designed and developed (Krumrine and Scott). Native Indians in the Oklahoma region build housing in different styles depending on the purpose of the home. For example, teepees were used to shelter people while venues were built to be used for social gatherings. The religious structures visible in Pueblo indicate that Native American culture valued the spiritual world and their gods (Krumrine and Scott). This also indicates that they had the ability to form structures requiring skills, which again describes them as people who transfer knowledge from one generation to the next.
