  • Essay / Leadership By Randy Pausch - 731

Accepting a decision can be guided by many factors. There are difficult and easy decisions to make in various situations. Given the choices Randy faced, fate left him with difficult decisions that would ultimately require him to pass away, leaving behind his wife and children. It was difficult for him, but his tendency to be a born leader made him accept the decision which left him very little time to stay alive. Finally, Randy also reflected joint decision-making ability. In a group, an organization or a relationship, there needs to be a defined level of understanding to be able to understand the other in order to make a lasting joint decision. Randy and Jai endured difficult times, making many marital decisions that reflected their commitment to maintaining a happy home, even as Randy's health deteriorated. Randy's final lecture served as inspiration and psychological strength to many who watched or experienced it. Although he was taken away earlier than usual due to cancer, his leadership abilities were strongly revealed during the conference. He used it as a way to showcase his legacy and how he wanted to be remembered. This legacy will reflect not only on his wife and children, but also on the people who learned and will discover his history and impact in technology.
