  • Essay / Analysis: Master Of None - 1544

    It touched on a lot of real life issues that many other shows don't really mention at all, it almost seemed like it was an "uncensored" version from Friends or Stein Field. The two main episodes I focused on were the “Ladies and Gentlemen” episode and “Parents”. In the Ladies and Gentlemen episode, the main focus of the episode was to discuss the issue of inequality and the problems that everyone seemed to be experiencing at the time. Some scenes gave an obvious depiction of binaries and conversations that were actually just examples of appropriation during this episode, which is why I ended up choosing this as one of my episodes to talk about because it was pretty much a freebie. And now for the other one, this was by far my favorite episode. This pretty much tells the story of the two characters in this episode and shows everything they had to do to get started and get to where they were at the current time in the series. Just as gender, race, and sexual orientation begin to be less defined, it seemed to me that this is also happening in more complex ways. For example, they grew up to be very different from their parents and the life they currently lead is seemingly new and did not really exist before.
