Windows and Linux are very different operating systems that are also very similar in many ways. Windows was first sold on November 20, 1985 as Windows 1.0. It was revolutionary for the time. People were accustomed to using the command line interface to enter commands. Windows 1.0 allowed them to simply point and click on whatever they wanted. Then came Linux a few years later. Linux was revolutionary because it looked like Unix and was open source. Open source meant that anyone could access the source code to tailor it to their tastes. This has since produced several different versions of Linux, including one called Lindows. Lindows is exactly what you would expect from the name. It is a version of Linux that looks and acts exactly like a modern version of Windows. At first, both operating systems seemed promising for a brighter future for computing. However, one of them grew exponentially while the other was ignored. Windows became the world's leading operating system in no time. It was created by Microsoft with the logo being a colored window with the colors red, green, blue and yellow. It offered a user-friendly point-and-click interface that was completely different from that of the time, and then continued to innovate it. Windows now offers the largest selection of software, designed to fit the most end users. Along with the largest selection of software, there is the largest selection of games, with most games available only for Windows.
