  • Essay / 9/11: Discussion on Freedom in the United States

September 11, 2001. This day will be remembered for the rest of life in the United States. The terrorists boarded two planes and effectively took them over. When they got their hands on the planes, they flew them to the Twin Towers in New York. 3,000 people lost their lives that day and 6,000 were injured. The whole world was in shock. After everything calmed down and the Twin Towers fell from their highest points, firefighters raised a single flag at ground zero. This flag was indeed the American flag. The flag fluttering in the wind, honoring those fallen in service or simply the citizens who lived in these towers. These firefighters truly honored those who were on duty and lost their lives that day. Being a firefighter or police officer was a very important role in American life. It was one of the worst experiences in the country, they all thought it was the end of terrorism. Even today we fear terrorism, even from privileged white men. Welcome to America. Be proud of the country you live in. Honor those in power, even if you disagree with the actions being taken in our country. To fight our battles. What does this actually look like? Everyone should have freedom, as the First Amendment says; freedom of expression, freedom of religion, freedom of assembly, freedom of the press and the right to petition. In fact, this is no longer the case, America will fall. People come from all over the world for a “better” life, but they come just to get killed by white privilege. These places of power come from the White House. The White House is located in Washington DC, where many people from all over come to visit it and see everything that has been a part of the history of the United States. The White House proudly displays the American flag which symbolizes the power of the country. The White House is also home to the President of the United States. It's been a tradition since the first president, George Washington. From him there have been 43 other presidents in the United States. They all had power over the country. With power comes responsibility for a secure country. This day was not expected in the country or in the world. While the country is proud of the freedoms we have, other countries are not happy about it because they are experiencing other things that we don't normally see. For example, in war, there are countries at war every day and that is why many people around the world come to the United States to have a better life and really live. But with everyone coming, and now that Trump is in power, he wants to get rid of everyone who is illegal. With him and the way he contributed to these actions, he influences white people to help him by blowing up stores and schools. Although Trump is not actually saying to kill people, but how he interprets his words towards those who come illegally, they have these negative thoughts in their minds, causing them to do these terrible things. With American pride, these terrorists took power. these planes and flew them into the towers in hopes of destroying this national pride that they have. The terrorists failed to destroy the pride, because we have a national day of celebration of the memory of those who lost their lives against these planes. This day is Memorial Day, every year we celebrate fallen soldiers, veterans and families of those who lost their lives, come together, relive those memories and
