Essay / John Locke's Thought Paper - 1399
Locke also believed that the word person was a forensic term. Locke believed that if a person committed a crime but did not remember it, they were not responsible for that crime. That they were generally a different person. Locke's theory has some flaws. I mean, Locke states that we become who we are based on our first memory, but as I saw in a crash course, no one remembers when they were born or the first years of our lives. So does that mean we Were you a different person then? Along with this flaw is Locke's flaw that if we lose our memory it would mean we are no longer the same person, so if I hit my head on a rock and forget a memory of the last month, does that mean I'm I'm not the same person I was before I hit my head. In conclusion, I believe that if John Locke was asked if he thought that Bill Gates was now Gill Bates or a new person, he would answer that the person who woke up in the recovery room is still Bill.
