Essay / The Cuban Missile Crisis - 1174
Explanation: Like what they say. North Korea can and will be a threat, and we must monitor it closely before it is too late. Everyone must be ready. Kim Jong Un looks like an innocent man, but behind closed doors is where he is most dangerous. He can plan and prepare an attack that no one knows about. Topic sentence: The Cuban missile was a crazy time. This happened about 50 years ago when John F. Kennedy was president. That's when an American spy plane surprised the Soviet Union as it attempted to sneak nuclear missiles into Cuba, ninety miles from the coast of the United States. Soon President Kennedy had to talk to one of their leaders about what they were doing with the missiles and if they didn't remove them there would be a war. The Cuban Missile Crisis occurred during the Cold War between the United States of America and the Soviet Union. It was basically a waiting game to see who would make the first move. Evidence: In October 1962, an American spy plane caught the Soviet Union moving nuclear missiles toward Cuba. After a week of extensive discussions with his advisors, President Kennedy then imposed a naval blockade which prevented the entry of materials, but this did not allow the Soviets to use the missiles already present. This is where President Kennedy was really worried, so week two came. This is also where Kennedy and Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev stood, simply looking at each other, where they didn't even back away. October 27 was decision day and thanks to Kennedy's secret recordings and extensive discussions. Khrushchev made a definitive commitment not to invade Cuba in exchange for the withdrawal of Soviet missiles. Even though it's just a distant memory... in the middle of the document... I didn't say it, Iran can really be a threat to us with its nuclear weapons if it plans to use them or test them. : Today, nuclear weapons are more dangerous than they have ever been. For what? Due to the rapid increase in global terrorist threats and countries manufacturing nuclear weapons without anyone knowing. Like Pakistan, they possess at least fifty known nuclear weapons and are threatened by Al-Qaeda terrorists, as they promise. If they ever get their hands on one of the nuclear weapons, they will not hesitate to use it. Nuclear weapons are actually a weapon of mass destruction. It can be toxic to air, soil, water and cross national borders. The only countries known to have it are China, France, India, Pakistan, Russia, the United States and the United Kingdom. If these nuclear weapons are tested, it could lead to a global catastrophe.
