  • Essay / My Dream as a Teacher - 1106

Teaching has been my dream job since I was in eighth grade and has helped motivate me to give my best ever since. In the summer, entering eighth grade, my Boy Scout troop completed our Silver Reward Project in which we created a summer academic program for formerly homeless preschool and kindergarten children, who were currently in transitional housing at Saint Elizabeth Pavilion, and who were late for school. Every Wednesday that summer, I spent two hours teaching and playing with those kids, and my life hasn't been the same since. Another reason I want to go into the teaching profession is the indescribable feeling you get from seeing a child's eyes light up when they succeed and finally understand something you taught them and with which he has difficulty. Seeing a child after this time is exceptionally rewarding, as they are usually extremely happy and proud of themselves and this feeling will help them solve their problems, build their confidence and face more difficult challenges in the future . Finally, I want to be a teacher because education is essential in the world we live in today. Getting an education allows people to gain the skills they need to succeed in life and achieve their goals. I hope that by becoming a teacher I can help children learn the skills that will help them succeed later in life. After my wonderful experience with my Silver Award project, I tried to gain as much childcare experience as possible to see if this was indeed the right career path for me. Every summer, from my freshmen through my junior year of high school, I was the lead teacher for the kindergartners or first graders at my church's Vacation Bible School. Additionally, I interned in a kindergarten classroom...... middle of paper......safest and safest environment possible. Additionally, I am passionate that children should have a teacher who is dedicated to giving them the skills they need to achieve their dreams. Finally, I feel like my outgoing personality will help me in class. I plan to use this trait to help bring children out of their shell and make them comfortable in a classroom, where they can learn. Plus, my extrovert brings out my easy-going, cheerful and imaginative side. I firmly believe that life and learning should be fun and enjoyable, and I hope that I can teach my children that learning is fun and to focus on the positive things about themselves and their lives, so that they live happier lives. I hope that if I become a teacher, my personal strengths can help children flourish and realize the greatness that has always been within them..
