    Module 5 Critical Thinking – A Resilient CommunicatorDespite progress in closing the gender gap and breaking the “glass ceiling,” gender continues to play a role in how we are perceived of the ability of a leader. must succeed and hold an equal share of real power in our country. Three women who were the first to change this perception were Hillary Clinton, Condoleezza Rice and Sarah Palin. These three women have successfully demonstrated true leadership throughout their careers. The three women have strong characters and display great self-confidence. These ladies are also motivated by their deeply rooted values ​​and beliefs. This is self-concordance. In the text Organizational Behavior, the authors describe self-concordance as the degree to which individuals' reasons for pursuing goals are consistent with their interests and core values ​​(Judge & Robbins, 2011). Believing in yourself is essential to being a leader. Being confident that one is capable of achieving the goals that have been set for and by one improves one's motivation and this can be perceived positively by others, spreading the "can do" attitude. This is called self-efficacy theory: an individual's belief that they are capable of accomplishing a task (Judge & Robbins, 2011). These three leaders all share a common, specific and powerful characteristic that propels their leadership style. Ms. Clinton, Ms. Rice and Ms. Palin are all extraordinary, persuasive and resilient communicators. Being an effective communicator is the key to success as a leader.
