Essay / The causes of the Enlightenment and America...
The world would not have been the same if these four major events in history had never happened. There is no similarity between these events, many say. All of these events were caused by a national rebellion or uprising against the ruling state, whether it was taxes, slaves, or monarchy, the end events were always the same. Around the middle of the 18th century, people began to think differently. It was what we called the Enlightenment. There were many different causes behind the Enlightenment, such as revolutions in science, society, politics and philosophy, these different thoughts were the Age of Enlightenment. There were many Enlightenment figures, including Diderot, Voltaire and Rousseau. These men were influenced by science to the extent that they both had unfair taxes imposed on them by the government. There were many causes for the American Revolution, but the main reason was taxes. From 1756 to 1763, the British participated in the French and Indian War, these wars were very costly. To pay its debts, Britain decided to start taxing the American colonies. There were several tax laws such as the Townshend Act and the Stamp Act, these laws were proposed to finance the war. The Townshend Act included a tax on paper, glass, tea, and these tax products led to the Boston Tea Party. The Boston Tea Party was a protest against the product taxes that were part of the Townshend Act. A group of settlers dressed as Indians boarded the ship at night and threw all the tea overboard into the water, ruining the tea. The port of Boston was closed until the Dutch East India Company was reimbursed for the destroyed tea. The Americans found it unfair that their parliament was British and felt that they were not sufficiently represented. King George sent soldiers to America to check whether the colonies were behaving well and enforcing the laws in October 1768. Because of these unjust taxes and Enlightenment ideas that people should be able to represent themselves, the Revolution began. It was produced in 1768. On the one hand, the monarchy was making decisions not in favor of its people and inevitably leading the French to their death. The rich did not have to pay unfair taxes that were dragging down the middle class. 97% of French people belong to the middle class and are fighting for their survival. In Europe, quality of life was determined by the status one held, and to obtain upper class status one had to be born into it. You couldn't achieve a higher status no matter how hard you tried. France was in debt at this time due to the loss of wealth caused by the Seven Years' War, under the same circumstances as the American Revolution. In 1788, the French government went bankrupt. The lower class was annoyed that the upper class wasted money while the poor went hungry and were of course poor. The farmer was also hungry because the entire harvest had been wiped out by bad weather and all that was left was expensive food and very little food. In some ways, the French Revolution was similar to the American Revolution because it was a debate that got out of control, leading to these historic events and the failure of the government. In conclusion, all of these events in history dramatically changed the way people viewed the world and what they believed. In this essay we talked about the causes and similarities of historical events that led to the world as we know it.
