    IntroductionOver time, there has been a major debate about television and children. Some think kids shouldn't watch it, some say it's okay in moderation, and still others say it has no effect. The real debate begins as soon as we start talking about the content of the shows. Sesame Street is a show that most say is for all ages, but is it really educational? Can children really learn from this? Media Choice. Media DescriptionSesame Street is a television show aimed at children. It contains Muppets who face some of the same problems that children today face. They talk about being a good sport, having new children in their family, arguing with their friends, and sharing, just to name a few. While helping children deal positively with the things they face, the show also has an educational aspect exposing children to letters, numbers and other pre-literacy elements. With all this announced, it is important to ensure that the educational aspect actually positively influences the millions of children who watch it. Reflections on the Article and Book The Effects of Sesame Street Mares and Pan's (2013) research shows that Sesame Street has a positive influence on overall learning, but it is not significant enough to say that Sesame Street teaches to children. When Mares and Pan (2013) examined the effects of Sesame Street on children of low SES (socioeconomic status), however, they found that it had a significantly positive effect on their knowledge. Looking at the “Sesame Street TV Review” found on Commonsensemedia.com, Sesame Street received 5 stars for quality.
