You must have respect, children will not respect you if you do not respect them. Create a sense of belonging in the room so that all students feel welcome. Also set high expectations for students, because if they see that you believe in them, they will believe in themselves too. Love what you teach, if you are passionate they will listen to you. That’s one of the reasons why I’m suited to this career, I have passion. I want to be in class. I want to teach. The traits I need to be a teacher are drive and determination. To be a teacher you must have a state diploma, some require the PRAXIS. The skills you need include patience, creativity, compassion, Microsoft Office, classroom management, organization, and teaching skills. You need to specialize in elementary school teaching, and the training you may need involves teaching students, visiting classrooms and writing reports, as well as creating and practicing lesson plans in front of your peers. My career-related occupations are teacher's aides, preschool teachers, librarians, and kindergarteners.
