In general, the union's demands are more convincing than the counterclaims made by the company. Indeed, the union had credible arguments about the real difficulties people were experiencing. For example, the union blamed those who targeted the company with inappropriate labor approaches. On December 5, 1975, in particular, he organized a meeting with the company's workers to try to acquire official cards for the company's janitors. Thus, 6 out of 11 workers benefited from the program. Three days later, union organizer Schimmel Orval reminded the employer's wealth manager, Hall Thomas, to recognize the union as a defender of the right to bargain (Ivancevitch, 2009). The fact that Hall distanced himself from these and directed the union toward Alton Carl, the vice president, gave him more opportunities to persuade workers. The company, on the other hand, had little chance of convincing workers due to its own capabilities. For example, when maintenance manager Larry Melton questioned and threatened several workers, he was only playing to the union's advantage. Indeed, employees did not feel safe with this approach given that the union used a friendly criterion. Eventually the company realized the approach was not appropriate and replaced Melton with Nord Leo on December 24. Even though the company decided to cover the workers' medical expenses, its strategy must have been to deceive them with another plan in the works (JustAnswer, 2014).
