  • Essay / How racism and discrimination are involved in To Kill A Mockingbird

Tom Robinson and Boo Radley are only known by what people say about them. As a result, they cannot create their own song like a mockingbird does, but their song is based on beliefs about them. For them, they cannot be treated like others in society. Tom Robinson was able to be exonerated due to the racism involved in this case. Atticus, Jem, and Scout believed in Tom's innocence because they believed everyone should be treated the same. The film shows how the justice system worked in the 1900s and how it was impossible to provide a fair trial for people of color.
